Dale Ahlquist coming to Dublin!

The G.K. Chesterton Society of Ireland is proud to announce that we will be hosting Dale Ahlquist, the President of the American Chesterton Society, at eight o'clock of 2nd April (a Wednesday) in the Mont Clare Hotel, Dublin 2. Dale will be giving a lecture on G.K. Chesterton: Defender of the Family. Admission is free.

Dale Ahlquist is undoubtedly the world's greatest popularizer of Chesterton's work. He is the host of the Chesterton-themed television show The Apostle of Common Sense and the author of several books on GKC's thought and work, including Common Sense 101, The Complete Thinker and The Gift of Wonder.

If you'd like to attend this event (and why wouldn't you?), and to help us with planning, please email irishchesterton@gmail.com to confirm your attendance.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

  1. This is simply excellent! Now, if only I can find some time off on April 2nd...

Probably not, sadly, but it's still great that more Irishmen and Irishwomen get to learn about GKC.

  2. I'm experiencing a bit of a problem when I vist this site in that I keep being forced to a site called YAC.com. I understand this is rubbish software that collects your information for advertisement purposes. Is anyone else having this issue?

On topic, I hope to be attending this.

  3. Hi Antaine

Thanks for that, I will take down the links immediately and see if I can re-instate them later. Anyway, anyone can look up the American Chesterton Society easily and at this stage I think most people who are interested in coming have contacted us. I hope you can make it.

  4. I am being redirected to shady sites trying to force me to accept software to update Java and Flashplayer. The sites are not the official sites for these applications. It seems your blog is compromised. I was directed here from Mark Shea's blog. I visited Dublin last summer and I dearly wish I could come visit again for this. All the best! -John K.

  5. Antaine, you likely have an outdated Java plugin. You'll continue experiencing that symptom until your Java platform has been sufficiently updated. Adobe will tirelessly redirect and prompt you to update. In the meantime, your back browser button will bring you back to the blog. It may take a few clicks.

  6. (Furthermore, it is not in any way related to this blog or any links associated with it. This is purely an issue on the user's system when their Java platform is outdated and you'll experience it on other blogspot blogs and sites across the net until you update your system. Contact your system administrator if you don't have administrative privileges to manage the update.)

  7. I went to the official Java page and checked my java status from there. It is up to date so there is no need to be getting an update notice while clicking to this site.

  8. Thanks to everyone who pointed out the apparent problem with the blog and everyone who investigated it. I am having a computer-proficient friend look at this today. I have had these messages myself and I apologize to everyone who's had this experience.
